SPICED BRANDY CIDER
One of the best things about the holidays is all of the spices we tend to use to season and kick up our food and drinks. As the weather gets colder, we also gravitate to warmer flavors and temperature of what we eat and drink. HOT SPICED BRANDY CIDER incorporates the favorite spices and flavors of the holidays in a nice cozy warm drink. This recipe is a great addition to any holiday party or for just cozying up with a fire while listening to holiday music.
Serves 8 short/highball cocktails
8 cups 100% pure fresh pressed apple juice( NOT from concentrate)
1 cup fresh organic whole cranberries
2 whole cinnamon sticks
1 TBSP. dried orange peel (kind you use for your orange peel grinder)
1 tsp. whole cloves
12 ounce favorite brandy
In a large pot, put your apple juice, cranberries, cinnamon sticks in and turn on high heat. In an old coffee grinder or electric spice grinder, fine grind your dried orange peel and cloves, put in pot. Bring mixture to a roaring boil while stirring occasionally. Turn heat down to simmer and simmer for 10 minutes.
If serving all 8 servings at once:
In each highball glass, place 1.5 ounces (a jigger) in and evenly divide the juice mixture over the brandy including the cranberries as garnish.
If serving individual servings:
In a highball glass, place 1.5 ounces of brandy and then 1 cup juice mixture and a couple of cranberries for garnish. Leave the juice on simmer for up to 2 hours.
