SPICED GREEN CHAI LATTE (raw-vegan)
The winter here in the Sierra’s has been cold lately. The nights dip down to 0 and the days have only gotten up to about 35, BURR!! When one is on a RAW diet, we don’t eat anything that has been heated over 110 degrees, so we do not kill the beneficial stuff in our food. On that note, sometimes COOL food just doesn’t cut it, I want something warm temperature not just spiced. My SPICED GREEN CHAI LATTE is on my menu. It is not only spiced with warm tasting spices but it is WARM. I use water decaffeinated green tea in mine and only warm it to 110 degrees so that I still adhere to my RAW lifestyle. Stay warm my friend.
1 1/2 cup fresh homemade RAW ALMOND MILK (click here for the recipe)
2 organic water decaffeinated organic green tea bags
2 tsp fresh micro-planed cinnamon stick
1 tsp fresh micro-planed whole nutmeg
3 whole green cardamon pods, grind to a fine powder (I use an old coffee grinder)
1 TBSP raw organic agave syrup (or other raw sweetener you prefer), adjust amount accordingly
In a large bowl at room temperature, infuse your almond milk with the green tea bags, stir and gently squeeze bags often, about 7 hours. Remove the tea bags and compost. In a small pot, add your infused milk and spices, heat this mix on LOW, while stirring constantly to 110. USE A CALIBRATED thermometer to ensure temperature. Add your sweetener, stir and pour into your serving glass. ENJOY the WARMTH!
